Power outage info update

After my previous post the storm proceeded to take out power to, I hear, 200,000 or people.... Including Lion's Bay. This means that for all of yesterday the G.R.I.P. Network had no way to talk to the outside world.

Power has now been restored in Lion's Bay, hopefully to stay. This means that those G.R.I.P. Network members that communicate directly with the Hope Point tower should again be functional (assuming they have power themselves!)

Power is still out in my area of Gambier, so West Bay Landing will continue to have no access and Center Bay may experience unpredictable outages.

Power outage on Gambier

As of 11pm november 11th there is a power-outage on Gambier right now due to the large wind storm (40knots now, due to be 50knots tonight!). I am not sure how wide-spread it is, but it is for sure out in Center Bay.

This means that the G.R.I.P. Network in West Bay Landing will be inaccessible until BC Hydro gets power back up, clients connected to the Center Bay repeater station will find the G.R.I.P. Network will be unpredictably up and down... depending on how much gas we have for out generator!

G.R.I.P. Network members connected to the main tower at Hope Point will *not* be effected by this outage as the Hope Point station is self-powered.

From the Marine forecast it looks like the storm will not be fully abated until tuesday, so it may take BC Hydro a while to restore power.

Hope you all survive this first big storm of winter with no damage!
